Like children, puppies need to be supervised constantly. Put your mind at ease by puppy-proofing your home prior to bringing him home. Of course, accidents can always happen, but taking a few extra precautions early is always important in keeping them safe. Inside Loose cords/exposed wires on ground or within reach of puppy Stairs- may need a puppy gate at top/bottom of staircase Appliances plugged in within puppy’s reach Doors/screens that do not shut properly and will allow puppy to escape Other pet’s food/water bowls that puppy can eat from Small toys/pieces on floor that puppy can chew and choke on Exposed trash cans puppy can get in to Clothing/shoes on ground puppy can chew Medications in cabinets puppy can reach Cleaning supplies- make sure all poisonous chemicals are not within reach Plants-place potted plants/flowers at a higher level out of reach Outside Outside- it is good to know what flowers and plants can be poisonous to dogs and keep out of reach Outside- fencing or appropriate area for puppy to roam and play safely and not get out Outside-Pools – it is important to always watch your puppy while outside and around water. Turning your back for even a second can be risky as a puppy can fall in and drown.
